# Owner-attested endpoint quantities versus activity-ledger coverage

Use this when an owner says current holdings equal an older confirmed snapshot while also acknowledging unrecorded transfers, trades, rewards, fees, or adjustments.

## Separate three claims

1. **Working/current quantity assumption:** the owner may authorize displaying or pricing the old quantities as today's provisional working quantities.
2. **Confirmed end-balance evidence:** this requires a dated owner attestation or observed read-only balance for every wallet/account, stored with append-only provenance. It does not prove how the endpoint was reached.
3. **Complete activity and external-cashflow coverage:** unchanged opening and closing quantities do not establish this. Offseting deposits/withdrawals, round-trip trades, internal transfers, rewards consumed by fees, and manual adjustments can leave the same endpoint.

Never promote claim 1 or 2 into claim 3. XIRR, TTWROR, investment result, transfer neutrality, and reward/fee classification remain unavailable until the intervening activity chain is complete or the owner explicitly attests to the complete enumerated no-activity/no-external-flow proposition.

## Safe closeout when detailed entry is deferred

- Keep the original snapshot immutable.
- Do not invent zero activities, transfers, rewards, fees, or cashflows.
- Do not mark performance cashflow coverage complete.
- If the existing current-price job prices old quantities, label the result as a provisional working valuation with both quantity date/evidence and price date; never call it a reconciled current portfolio value.
- Defer activity entry explicitly and report the unresolved period and source list.
- Productive financial row deltas stay zero unless a dedicated append-only owner-attestation/current-balance path exists and is authorized.
- A sprint may be operationally closed with performance intentionally unavailable; report this as deferred data capture, not successful performance activation.

## Confirmation wording

A statement such as “the balance has not changed” is ambiguous. Before writing complete coverage, ask one bounded question that enumerates purchases, sales, swaps, deposits, withdrawals, internal transfers, staking/rewards/interest, and fees. If the owner then discloses any activity, fail closed for performance even if the endpoint quantity is unchanged.
